Day 30: Wednesday 4 April 2007
Sampling area: Dredging

Sorry - the team are flat out with their sampling programme and haven't had time to report on their activities today. Meet ETO Phil Parker and Deck Hand Charles Cooney below....

Name: Phil Parker
Hometown:  Barry, South Wales
Position: Electrical Technical Officer (ETO)
Favorite thing about his job: The challenge
Least favorite thing about his job: Having to go to sea to do it!
Does he ever get seasick?  Never
Favorite place in the world:  Seychelles
Worst nightmare:  Having to man the lifeboats.
Funniest thing he’s heard in the past week:  A golf joke.
Three words to describe himself: Aged, tired, and thoughtful
Would be reincarnated as: Nothing!  He doesn’t believe in reincarnation.
Most interesting thing that ever happened at sea:  Steaming along full ahead in the Weddell Sea, and ending up 100 miles behind where they started (because the wind was blowing so hard).
Why did the chicken cross the road?  To get his flu medicine.
Favorite saying: “What can I say?”

Name: Allan Davies
Hometown:  Gloucester (but Southampton now)
Position: Electrical engineer
Favorite thing about his job: All the different places and people that he gets to see, and also that it’s unpredictable and you never know what will happen next.
Least favorite thing about his job: Time away from friends and family.
Does he ever get seasick? “Noooooo!”
Favorite place:  Greenland
Worst nightmare: Fire on the ship.
Three words to describe himself:  Sense. Of. Humor.
Would be reincarnated as: A housecat.
Most interesting thing that ever happened at sea:  Playing with penguins in the Crozet Islands, which are between South Africa and Antarctica in the Southern Ocean.
Favorite saying: “Absolutely!”
