Worst nightmare:  Not seeing my son graduate

Would be reincarnated as: An eagle
Most interesting/best thing that ever happened at sea:  A trip from Southampton to Angola-everything was great, the weather, the crew and scientists and all the scientific objectives were achieved with time to spare!

Favourite thing about your job: Not having to wear a suit.
Least favourite thing about your job: Not having high-speed internet whilst at sea.
Do you ever get seasick?  Very badly on my first two voyages, but not once since 1990.
Favourite place in the world:  Iceland
Worst nightmare:  Lately, something that Bram told me: that giant bubbles of gas might rise up from the seafloor and sink the ship.
Three words to describe yourself: Complete.  Computer.  Geek.
Would be reincarnated as: A housecat.
Most interesting thing that ever happened at sea:  In Bellingshausen Sea, Antarctica in 1992, I watched seals playing on the sea ice.
Why did the chicken cross the road?  Because he saw a really cool computer on the other side!
